ok so i'm sure you read the subject line of this
email... that was a quote from our bishop... from the pulpit.... SO
AWKWARD! bhahah but so funny. Our bishop is the father of 4 girls he's
so funny, he kinda reminds me of dad. His son in law is our ward mission
leader and they just had their first baby a little girl like a month
ago. SHE'S SO PRECIOUS!!!! That is the hardest rule to want to keep as a
missioanry, not being able to hold kids... especially when our ward has
3 new borns and I just want to cuddle them. BABY BABY BABY!!!!
Ok but this week has just been phenomenal!
Emily is coming along great and is set to have her baptismal interview
on Thursday night. Providing that goes well she will be baptized on
Saturday afternoon at 4:30....
SO EXCITING! This will be the first baptism this ward has had in like a
year. Last week we were able to teach her about the law of chastity
and her home with her visiting teacher (yes she's not even baptized and
she has visiting teachers assigned by the ward, who visit her
frequently... like I said this ward is the celestial kingdom!) and at
the end of it we asked her to pray. She thanked Heavenly Father for
preparing her before meeting us to help her live the law of chastity and
then she asked for the strength to overcome smoking because being
baptized means so much more to her than smoking ever would. I am so
grateful for the opportunity to know Emily. Everytime we seem to be
getting a little overwhelmed with what we need to do in the ward either
we end up needing to call Emily about something or she ends up calling
us and her sweet loving spirit just lifts me up. She is so willing to
do whatever Heavenly Father asks of her and she just has a desire to be
good. She is the perfect example of what being childlike is. I am so
excited for her to have the gift of the holy ghost and see what a
difference it will make in her life.
Here is another funny story with emily. So when I went on
splits to go to Myle's baptism Sister Hancok and Sister Ma'ake went with
Emily to a stake activity. On the way there Sister Hancock was telling
her about how we want a pet but we aren't allowed so we were thinking
about buying a plant. Emily then proceeded to tell Sister Hancock about
the benefit of growing mushrooms and how that could be our pet. It was
so funny/cute. We kind of forgot about it and then one day Emily
called us on our lunch break. She was like "Sisters I have so really
great news for you.." at this point we are thinking she's like going to
tell us that she like has a referral for us or something "down on
wanaroo road at the walt shop they are selling mushrooms that you can
grow for $19.99!!! and I was thinking about the older gentleman that
you are teaching and you know the world is so poor these days and I
think that you should probably give him some of the mushrooms that you
grow because they are very nutritious and it would really be a good
finding tool for you." Sister Hancock and I are like bursting out
laughing at this point. WE LOVE EMILY! So hopefully we will have some
time today to go down to Wanaroo rd. and buy some mushrooms to grow
today before we go to the temple.
Missionary work here is just pure joy. Everytime we
meet somebody new it's so easy for me to help them see why the gospel is
so essential because I am SO HAPPY!
This week we
studied a lot about our baptismal coventant because we are hoping to
set a few baptismal dates. As I have tried to understand what Heavenly
Father really expects of me as his deciple of Christ I have come to
realize even more how important it is to let our light so shine. This
week try to go out of your way to let your light shine. "What does the
Atonement have to do with missionary work? Any time we experience the
blessings of the Atonement in our lives, we cannot help but have concern
for the welfare of others... A great indidcatior of one's personal
conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others." That was a
quote from President Hunter. I love it because it helps me realize how
much the Savior can help me do my missioanry work and let my light
shine.
I love you all. Keep doing the right thing. Especailly stuyding your scriptures every day!
xoxo
