sister training leader?!?!?!?! (June 23)

ok so lets talk about how busy insane and crazy this last week has been! this is going to be a long email... sorry! so first off TRANSFERS happened.  On Monday morning we got a text from President Lindsey explaining and no transfer announcements would be made until Tuesday morning.  This was really quite upsetting to Sister Simon because she needed to know if she should pack up on Monday or not since our Tuesday schedule was quite busy.  But oh well we had to wait so we went to Caversham wildlife park and hugged kangaroos... it made everything better :) (pictures to follow don't worry)
On Monday night we went out to go teach our lessons and EVERYTHING fell through.  I was really discouraged and I felt very strongly that there was going to be a change in our area. I didn't know if that was that Sister Simon was going to leave, or that we needed to spend more time finding, or what, but it was a little daunting.  When we got home we said a prayer and had dinner and we were just about to turn off the lights when the phone started ringing with President Lindsey's ring tone... both of our hearts stopped and we DIVED... dove??? for the phone.  When we answered President informed us that he would like Sister Simon to stay in the area and for the two of us to serve as the sister training leaders for the Dianella zone... now what a sister training leader does nobody really knows yet. It's kind of like a combination of district leader and zone leader but just for the sisters.  We are responsible for going on exchanges with every sister in the zone and if the sisters are having any companionship problems or issues they are directed to us.  Also we are required to go to about double the meetings that we were before and we get more kilometers for our car.  So it's a good thing we think... mostly it's just more responsibility and more paperwork haha but I'm excited to go on exchanges with each of the sisters and get to learn from them. Each missionary does missionary work differently and I LOVE talking to them about what they have felt the spirit inspire them to do in their areas and how it has helped them. Also the best part about President's phone call is that Sister Simon is staying another transfer! Which we really weren't expecting because after this transfer she will have been in the midland area for 7 1/2 months CRAZY right?!
On Tuesday we had zone meeting and then Sister Simon was throwing up all day so we weren't able to go out at all.  It was really hard for me to just chill at home.  That's one huge difference I've noticed about myself is that if I'm not busy, or not sharing the gospel, or not helping someone else my stomach gets all upset and I have a hard time not crying haha.  So it's better to be helping others because then you know that you are fulfilling your purpose and Heavenly Father is proud of you! I love that feeling :)
So on Wednesday morning I woke up and did the usual routine but in my personal prayer I asked Heavenly Father to please help us to be able to make up for the lost day of work.  I told him my desire to help those in Midland and I knew that he wouldn't leave me alone in this work.  Then I got up and started getting ready for the day.  About 12 minutes later the phone rang and it was the assistants "hey did you remember that the Kalgoorlie sisters are supposed to come stay with you and sister Simon until they can catch the train out on friday?" (it was cleaver that they said did YOU remember since they never actually told us... this is a common tactic among the elders hahah because they always forget to tell us stuff) we were like... ummmm no? and they were like we sister ATKINSON and sister bailey are going to be coming to stay with you until Friday. I ABOUT DIED!!!! we would be able to do splits and make up for the lost day! it was an immediate answer to my prayers and not only that it was SISTER ATKINSON... one of my MTC girls :) we are bffls it was going to be THE BEST! So me and Sister Simon were pretty excited.
So we set out to go contact some referrals while waiting for the assistants to call us and tell us if we needed to drive to dianella to go pick up sister Atkinson and sister bailey.  while we were out contacting we got a call from.... ANGIE! we were so surprised because she had checked herself into a mental hospital a couple days before and we weren't really expecting to get the opportunity to teach her again. She said that she was doing heaps better and wondered if we could come see her later that day... naturally we agreed.
Ok so at this point I need to introduce you to a couple of our other investigators that I haven't had the chance to tell you about:
Demitri Bocevski: he's an old guy that we used to ride our bikes past all the time.  About my second week here we decided to stop by and just talk to him.  he's from Macedonia, he's losing his vision, and he doesn't have a leg or any teeth.  hahah he's GREAT! he kinda looks like a skinny version of the grandpa off up.  ANY WAY! we've been teaching him for a while now and he's come to church 5 times he says "if Jason comes to pick me up then I go! you da boss!" and so he comes.  Any way last week we just realized that it was time for him to get baptized... especially since we thought that we weren't going to baptize Angie.  We have had to overcome several barriers with him... one of which was a language barrier.  He speaks Macedonian and we didn't know of ANYBODY around here that spoke it as well so we were just trying to teach him really simply but there were still things that were being lost in translation.  Me and Sister Simon were praying for a miracle when one day Demitri mentioned that he could understand Croatian and Sister Simon remembered that there was an older lady in the ward, Sylvia, who spoke Croatian! IT WAS THE MIRACLE WE NEEDED! so he's going to be baptized this Saturday assuming that he doesn't buy any more cigarettes today when he goes shopping :).

Myles Dixon: me and Sister Terry met Myles when we were out contacting last Friday on exchanges (so that's like 10 days ago Friday not like 2 days ago Friday) and he was like "ya i'm down with god" and then he answered his phone and was like "dude i'll call you back i'm talking to these two christian chicks" hahah he's great but we have taught him the 3 main lessons and he's come to church. he loves everything about the gospel so far and he really understands everything.  it's really cool because he tells us so much that we don't have to ask too many inspired questions to see where he's at.  he has a pretty colorful past (but that's typical for midland) and he's just trying to get his life in order.  He is the type of person that I would LOVE to see baptized and then go on a mission.  He's would be SUCH a good missionary :)
So on Wednesday we went to see Angie and she is so ready to be baptized.  as long as she can stick it out and stay at her mom's house (even though it is less than ideal since her mom is a hard core drug addict) she will be able to make it! it's hard because her mom is so day to day with letting angie stay there.  The other day she tried to make angie and patience (her 14 month old daughter) sleep outside in the rain.  Angie had no where to go! So we fasted yesterday that this week things would be calm and Angie would be able to make it to baptism on Saturday.  This is one of those struggles where I wish the church had a better program to help angie get on her feet. The ward and the bishop are doing everything they can to help but there's not too much they can do.  We are going to have a fast as a relief society that something will work out.
On Saturday we were talking to President Lindsey about Angie when he asked us about Allison and we mentioned that she was great and that her daughter wanted to be baptized but her dad wouldn't let her. We had been under the impression that she had to have permission from both parents but President Lindsey said as long as her custodial parent agreed she could get baptized. We told Georgia this and she said that she wouldn't want to get baptized behind her dad's back but she is going to tell him that she's going to get baptized and he can either support her or not.  We are hoping for July 20th for her baptism :) :) :)
Yesterday we set a baptismal date with Grace up in Northom! she's going to be baptized on Sunday July 14th :) it's the best! We are so excited about her.  Her birthday is a week from today and she will be turning 12.  We set up our next appointment with her for next Monday so we could be there to celebrate with her. She was like "i prayed that you guys would be able to come to my birthday and now you can!" which leads me to tell you WHY we can go up to northom next Monday. Next week's preparation day has been moved from Monday to Wednesday so we can go to the temple as a zone.  So don't worry when I don't write on Monday :)
It's been a really busy week here in Midaland but I love it! I am so grateful that I get to be a missionary here in western Australia. I LOVE serving my heavenly father. I miss you all and I am grateful for your support :)

xoxo
