This week has been a really
rewarding week. On Wednesday during study time we were going about our
day when we got a call from our zone leaders aka zonies. They told us
about a special assignment that President had for me and Sister Simon.
There is a girl that is 11 named Grace who lives in the branch just 2
hours north of Midland (where I'm serving) who wants to get baptized.
President wanted me and Sister Simon to figure out how we could best
minister to Grace and her family. We considered doing lessons through
skype, also there is a couple in our ward who is assigned to help the
rescue in the branch and they go up weekly so we considered going up
with them. Ultimately we were allotted a greater kilometer allowance
and we just drove up to Northom yesterday after church. This branch is
AMAZING! The branch president is 30 years old and is super enthusiastic
about the work. He met us in a little town about 45 minutes away from
Midland and then we drove like an hour and a half to get to Grace's
house. It was sooooooo good that he did that because if he hadn't we
would have totes been lost out in the bush with the dingos #countrylyfe.
We met Grace and her family and they are so ready to start coming
back to church and Grace is SO excited to get the gift of the holy
ghost. I think that is my favorite part of people getting baptized is the difference that the holy ghost makes in their lives :)
This week we also had the opportunity to go and do baptisms for the dead at the temple with some of our recent converts. That was one of the most rewarding experiances as they talked about how going to the temple gives them so much strength to live the gospel even when it is difficult. We are so lucky to have a temple so close to us here in Perth, and it made me think about how blessed I was to grow up with the temple just up on the hill. I love going to the temple. It's the greatest blessing and source of strength. We are going to get another one going and bring Janina with us. That will be such a joy to see her get to start doing the ordinances of the temple. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
