Remember that one time when it was Rylee's birthday and we rented the Shrek video game and we stayed up all night trying to get passed this one level where you had to like fly the dragon or something and every time you didn't get it you had to start again. Well this week I realized that repentance is a lot like that video game. Often times Satan will try to convince me that I have to try to be perfect for a whole day and if I mess up at all during the day then what's the point in trying for the rest of the day I'll just have to to try again tomorrow or the next week. It's a deadly argument. If Satan can just make us think that we can't change immediately then he can stop us from ever becoming who we need to become. For example as missionaries we are asked to speak to everyone that we see. At the beginning of my mission I didn't always talk to EVERYONE... and when I caught myself I would often think well what's the point in me trying for the rest of the day? I all ready didn't do it... but that's the way Satan can stop us... we have to just trust that we can hit the reset button at any point in time and try again. NO MATTER WHAT! We can change as much and at any time that we would like. That's what the savior wants us to do, he wants us to REPENT NOW! not tomorrow morning or at the end of the day but now and just try again. Every time that we try again we learn better how to overcome the thing that was stopping us in the first place, just like the video game, every time we had to start again we got better at the first part and we learned how to get a little bit further in the game. It can be frustrating some times but if we are just patient and trust the Savior he WILL show us the way.
Since hearing more about Clive's background my whole outlook on teaching has expanded. Those missionaries years ago remain nameless but they planted a seed that have changed Clive's life, and mine. Because of their righteousness and the Spirit that they brought Clive will be able to do the work for his Mother who had simple faith and believed but was married to someone who didn't. Our work is eternal, it's not just today, it's not just this transfer, it's the lords time which is everlasting. The effect of just 2 righteous missionaries, it's so humbling. It's the power of Christ!
I love this work, I'm so grateful for all that I've been allowed to witness on my mission. I'm so grateful for my family that brought me up in the gospel and has laid a foundation of righteousness.
Love,
Sister Wyatt
