rain rain rain (June 22 2014)

I wish that the number of baptisms that we got in the Madeley ward was directly corresponding to the amount of rain we've been getting... but maybe it's just a delayed reaction or something. I guess I'll just be patient.  This is the last week before transfers.  Sister Leiataua and I are determined to make this the best week ever! I'm so pumped!!!
Yesterday morning before church I had the most amazing study about enduring to the end.  It led me to study about what salvation is.The Prophet Joseph Smith gave an ultimate definition of salvation as having the power to overcome all enemies in this world (meaning thevices which are the opposites of gospel virtues) and “the knowledge to triumph over all evil spirits in the world to come.” (Teachings, p.297.) He further stated that the triumph over one’s enemies would come only through a knowledge of the priesthood. (See Teachings, p.305.)
It made me think about why I am on a mission. I am here to teach people how to overcome satan and in the process I am learning how to do it better myself. What an amazing experience

This last week was awesome.  So we went to follow up on those people that I had called when sister L was sick.  Turns out one of them forgot to tell us that he moved but the family living in his old house invited us right in and we taught them about the importance of the gospel to bless all families.  We are going back today to teach them about the restoration.

As a mission we are focusing on not saying the word "message" when we are talking to people because it just turns them off. We are trying our best to teach immediately and help them understand WHY they really should want to talk to us in the first place.  It's been fun trying to catch ourselves when we say message.  We are doing great! It's really changing the way I teach and helping me "cut the fluff" and go straight to the doctrine.  That's something that I really admire about the elders is they can just teach so straight to the point where sometimes I find myself going around and around to finally get the doctrine out there.  It's quite common among sister missionaries, we like to love them into the doctrine rather than letting the doctrine do the healing.

Yesterday Clive blessed the sacrament again. It was amazing.  He messed up like 4 times.  But it made me think about the words that he was saying and why they were important and why they needed to be exact.  It was touching to watch him and listen to him humble himself and start again to do things the Lord's way.  Even before that we were talking in the hallway before church when the Elder's quorum president came up and asked him if he wanted to bless or pass and Clive was like "I am in your service whatever you need me to do".  Isn't that just the attitude that each of us need to have when the Lord asks us to do something? I have learned so much from working with Clive.  I've learned about how I want to be in the future and the importance of being humble enough to trust the Lord.

This gospel is amazing. It fixes everything. It heals every heart, solves every problem, is the answer to all our questions, and that's because it's Christ's gospel.  HE is the ANSWER to everything.  I love Him and I want to serve Him for the rest of my life. Even if that can be a scary and daunting thought, I know that he will make so much more of me than what I could do on my own... which lets be honest is nothing.

I love you all! Read your scriptures every day this week and pray out loud.  It will change you. I promise.

xoxo
