have you ever heard of peyote?!!?!?

HELLOOOOOO!

so this week has been phenomenal! I guess what else can you expect from missionary work right? you're probably wondering why i am referencing a drug in my subject line.... this was one way someone tried to explain the first vision to us missionaries the other day, thank goodness for the spirit was there to set them straight!

Best news of the week? Well we have 5 progressing investigators!!!!!!!!!! cool right?! One of them is a 12 year old girl who reminds me so much of my retreat girls it makes me want to cry, two of them are Larry and Linette who I talked about last week (I think?) Larry was actually the one who said that Joseph Smith admitted to smoking peyote when he was old and dying on his sick bed... he didn't realize that Joseph Smith was actually killed... don't worry he's still pretty golden.
The thing that I have really been working on this week is not thinking about Australia.  I've been really worried about getting attached to our investigators, the ward, and my companions and then having to be uprooted and sent across the world.  I decided it's too late for that I'm already attached! Larry and Lynette are seriously the most sweet people in Yakima   They were so funny this week they were talking about how they want to have us over to play Mexican train or chicken foot (i can't get away from it!) we had to explain that we can't play games while we are missionaries but when we get off our missions we'd be more than happy to come back and play games with them for an entire weekend.  That made them really happy.  gahhh I just love them so much!

We had specialized training this week where we talked a lot about church attendance.  I started thinking about why I went to church.  I have never thought that I went to church just because my family went to church until I got on my mission and then I realized "wait why do I go to church, a lot of the time I skipped sunday school or relief society... why are those places important." I've been thinking about this a lot. I think that I am coming to understand that Sunday School is a place where the saints can come and learn together.  Heavenly Father never meant for us to be alone or to go through life us against the world.  He gives us wards, and families, and friends, and especially our Savior to help us.  I love in Moroni 6:4 where it says "that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God."

I know that everybody wants to be remembered.  Everybody wants to be important and the gospel (as always) helps with that.

On Tuesday night we were about to head back home but we wanted to finish tracting these condos we had been working on for a few days.  We knocked on all the rest of the doors and there was only 1 person who stopped long enough for us to have a conversation, it was the last door.  He's engaged, and so we talked to him about how we can be married not just for time, but forever.  He told us that he LOVES mormons and the only reason he hasn't been baptized is lack of education (inserts holding back of jumping and rejoicing and quoting scripture here.... all that was on my face was the biggest grin!) We were like "Barry could we come back sometime this weekend to talk to you more about the gospel of Jesus Christ?" he was all like "YES! I'd love that." and then we left because we really needed to get home to get planning done on time for once in our lives (still hasn't happened btw) so we were walking back to our car giddy as can be when we ran into Alonzo (one of the people that was too busy to talk to us when we knocked on his door) and he was like hey! do you have time to talk now because I'm done with what I was doing... and right then any thoughts of planning for tomorrow left our heads... UHHH YES WE'LL COME TALK TO YOU! so we went and gave alonzo a book of mormon and set up a return appointment and when we came back alonzo was like I really feel like God sent you girls to me to help me through my hard times.  And we were like YES HE DID! and he was like I really like this book and we were like WE DO TOO! and then he was like I have lots of questions and were like we want to help answer them and he was like ok! and now he's a progressing investigator and we love him and he's awesome and he's a retired police guy and he's like don't be stupid when walking around at night and was like but really don't be stupid and it's funny and nice and we just love the crap out of that guy!!!!

I LOVE MISSIONARY WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you all are amazing! I hope that you were able to get more people to church this week than ever before. Don't forget to always be praying and actively seeking for ways to help the missionaries in your area! We all have got to get prepared for this huge influx of missionaries and they need YOU more than ever!
