this weekend was amazing i spent it recovering from what i like to call my "joyous hangover" on thursday night i went to bed at 3:30 am... and woke up at 5:45 and then somehow managed to play and direct 12 little girls for the rest of the day. needless to say after us councilors hit up texas road house we slept for over 12 hours. then we ran errands and got ready for this coming week.
here is just a little food for thought. in Ether 6:5 it says
5 And it came to pass that the Lord God caused that there should be a afurious wind blow upon the face of the waters, btowards the promised land; and thus they were tossed upon the waves of the sea before the wind.
so lets say that wind really means trials
and the waters is our daily life
and then lets alas say that the promised land is the celestial kingdom, with our heavenly father.
kinda crazy to think that our trials are really pushing us towards our heavenly father... right? well it gets better.
6 And it came to pass that they were many times buried in the depths of the sea, because of the mountain waves which broke upon them, and also the great and terrible tempests which were caused by the fierceness of the wind.
sometimes it may seem that our lives are buried under our trials and we will never break free from them.
7 And it came to pass that when they were buried in the deep there was no water that could hurt them, their vessels beingatight like unto a dish, and also they were tight like unto the barkof Noah; therefore when they were encompassed about by many waters they did cry unto the Lord, and he did bring them forth again upon the top of the waters.
but here is the comforting thing, none of our trials can hurt us if we hold on tight to our heavenly father.
8 And it came to pass that the wind did never cease to blow towards the promised land while they were upon the waters; and thus they were adriven forth before the wind.
and sometimes our trials don't leave for a very. very. very. long time.
9 And they did asing praises unto the Lord; yea, the brother of Jared did sing praises unto the Lord, and he did bthank and praise the Lord all the day long; and when the night came, they did not cease to praise the Lord.
but that does't me that we can ever stop trusting in our heavenly father. in verse 9 think of the day as the times when we aren't facing really hard trials and life is easier. and at night as the times we feel more alone, more tried, hopeless, and scared. we have to praise our heavenly father always.... always be looking for JOY!
10 And thus they were driven forth; and no monster of the sea could break them, neither awhale that could mar them; and they did have light continually, whether it was above the water or under the water.
and no trial will break us, because we will be filled with light, be filled with joy continually. because it is a choice.
i had an amazing week with my girls, and an amazing weekend just hanging out with the counselors. i loved being able to just talk so openly about what i believed, about my religion, and about what truly can bring us joy 24 hours a day and honestly for the past 7 days.
so what is bringing me joy right now?
1. the fact that i have glitter allllll over everywhere
2. my yellow dress that my family sent up with amelia aspen
3. the cheese my mom sent up
4. spending the entire weekend with jolie, bo, tiki, road runner, freckles, mickey, and shuffle
5. getting a letter from jon
6. reading my book of mormon
7. eating delicious dinner at bo's house
8. going to church with bo
9. new shirts from plato's closet
10. another session of retreat for girls!!!!
