Ok so lets talk
about..... how miracles are real! so really though they are. A couple
of weeks ago Sister Simon and I decided during weekly planning to set a
goal of faith that we would get 1 person baptized and confirmed in the
coming week. We didn't have anybody on date yet but we did have a few
investigators that had been invited to be baptized but weren't willing
to choose a day to work for.... which is incredibly frustrating. We felt
like if we were willing to show Heavenly Father that we wanted to do
ALL that we could to get someone baptized in the coming week he would
provide. We were really thinking a lot about our investigator Janina
who is dating a member of the ward and is SUPER spiritual. She had no
problem with the gospel but was just waiting for the go ahead and do it
sign from heavenly father. We went to her lesson that week after we set
the goal really hoping to set a date for that weekend but instead the
lesson went a completely different way... it wasn't bad it just wasn't
how we planned it. So we went home feeling like it was a good effort
and Heavenly Father was pleased with it but obviously Janina needed some
more time.
Last Monday (so not like 3 days ago monday but the Monday before) we went and had another lesson with Janina. She was still having a hard time in her personal life and we offered to have the elders give her a priesthood blessing. She was really excited about that idea. We set it up for Thursday, we were hoping after the blessing she would know when she wanted to get baptized. Fast forward just 2 days and we were in Dianella at new missionary training. The AP's called us aside and were like have you guys checked your phone at all today? Well of course we haven't checked our phone... President has been talking all morning (it's like watching the news alllllll the time hahah). We looked at our phone only to see 5 missed calls and 3 texts.... that's a lot in case you didn't know. Our district leader had texted the AP's and told them "code red" they had run out in the hall during training and Elder Lieutai told them to tell us our investigator wanted to be baptized.... TOMORROW! WHAT?!?!?!? ok so at this point I like start crying and and jumping up and down... JANINA WAS READY TO BE BAPTIZED!
She still hadn't been taught tithing or been told about needing an interview with the district leader so we had a few crazy hours of trying to coordinate everything. There was a funeral at the chapel on Thursday so the earliest that we would be able to have the baptism was on Friday. We taught her about tithing really quick, and then got her an interview which she passed with flying colors and on Friday night at 7 pm she was baptized :) :) :) it was amazing.
Since then the lord has just been pouring out the miracles here in Midland.I have found that this week Heavenly Father has really been teaching me about his timing and about being in the right place at the right time. On Friday we had an appointment scheduled to visit one of the YSA recent converts and follow up with her book of mormon reading. We had finished our last appointment a little bit early and decided that it would just be best to head over to Kieran's early. When we got out of the car there was somebody waving us over in the park next to Kieran's house. We couldn't really tell who it was but it's not very often that we get waved over by somebody right?! We walked over and realized that it was a member of the ward who was talking to a less active member and her friend. Angie was the friend's name. She had been to church 2 years earlier when she first found out that she was pregnant with her daughter. She was trying to decide if she should keep her or not. Angie told me that it was coming to church that made her decide to keep Patience (that's the daughter). I invited Angie to church again and told her we could get both her and Patience a ride that Sunday. Angie was REALLY excited and we left feeling really hopeful. When we went to go to Kieran's lesson we found that we had gotten the day wrong on when we were supposed to go see her, but if we hadn't gone we wouldn't have met Angie!
She didn't come to church on Sunday because her daughter got really sick, but we were able to teach her after church and she did come to our cottage evening Sunday night and LOVED it! We taught her on Monday and before we could even get started on the lesson she asked us for a book of mormon. SHE'S AWESOME! We have committed her to baptism for the 22nd of June. She is amazing I feel like she has really been prepared to meet the missionaries.
She was telling us the other day how just 2 weeks ago she was sitting on the couch when her bible just randomly fell off the shelf and hit her on the head (giving her a bruise haha) she realized that she needed to make some changes in her life and that the best way to do that would be to invite god back into her life. She called her friend Monica (the Less active) and told her. Then just a little while later we ran into her at the park! HEAVENLY FATHER IS SO COOL!
I LOVE being a missionary! I LOVE the gospel. and I LOVE the book of mormon (if you aren't reading it er'rey day you really should start)

Sister Wyatt
