This has been my favorite week of missionary
work EVER! WE HAD ANOTHER BAPTISM!!!! So let me tell you this story. So
remember how Sister Donaldson joined us, well last transfer she served
in an area called Alexander heights which is in our zone and there are
no missionaries there right now. The elders were trying to cover both
areas but naturally the work in Alexander slacked. On Wednesday
morning Sister Donaldson was praying and got the very strong impression
that we could get a baptism that week if we were allowed to go and see
one of her investigators named Reza who is from iran. He had been
taught everything, and really the only reason he wasn't baptized is
because right before transfers there was some confusion about what ward
boundary he was in and then the missionaries were taken out and he
wasn't really visited any more. Sister Donaldson told us about this and
we decided to all pray about it and we all felt really good about it.
We had to call the AP's (who are also acting as our zone leaders right
now) and our district leader and the district leader of Alexander
heights area but we FINALLY got permission. Then we ran into the
problem of being out of km's... again.... we really didn't want to have
to call the AP's again to ask for more but we had no way to get out
there with out sacrificing our own area's work. It was quite the
problem so we called Alison (she's the miracle worker) and asked her if
she could drop us off the next day and then we would ride the train back
to our area after the assistants interviewed him. we had 60 kms left
at this point and we still had to get to transfers. which is a 50 km
trip. we were freaking out needless to say. so on Thursday
we were waiting for Alison to come... and waiting... and waiting... and
so finally we called her and she was like i got a flat tire!!!! crap.
we had a decision to make. The AP's had promised that if we got a
baptism they would give us more km's but we didn't know for sure if it
was going to happen or not... Alexander heights was a 50 km trip away...
we had no idea if we should risk the km's or not... so stressful! so we
risked it! it was the best decision. Reza was baptized on Saturday morning and then confirmed yesterday. He is going to make the best priesthood holder and really help their ward! SO HAPPY!
next great news... we have another investigator who is golden and going to be baptized either this saturday
or next. she is the librarian for the library where i am actually
emailing right now. she is amazing her name is tereza. the elder's have
been teaching her but she's been facing so much opposition from her
family that she's been quite emotional... the elders got scared of that
so they gave her to us to comfort her and teach her and she's amazing!
she has pretty much converted herself. we are just working to have time
to teach her everything before her scheduled baptism date... especially
since we have transfers this week so that will be crazy. xoxo
