well hello!
I hope all is well over there in America :) here in Australia there are heaps of things happening!
SOOOOO...
on Wednesday Angie had her baptismal re-interview and she was cleared
for baptism it was soooo exciting and she was ready to make this big
change in her life.
On Friday
me and Sister Simon had exchanges with Sister Arnold and Sister Liu
which was AWESOME! I went to Sister Arnold's area and Sister Liu came to
Midland. While I was gone Sister Simon went to go and visit Angie only
to find that she wasn't home because she was trying to deal with her
fiance cheating on her :( (sad I know) but she was still excited to get
baptized
on Saturday and that was a relief! Sister Simon and I spent the majority of
Saturday
getting things ready for the baptism and making sure nothing was going
to stop Angie from getting in the water. It was the BEST feeling when
she got baptized and then afterwards she bore her testimony about
Heavenly Father always helping and guiding her and how she is so excited
to make these changes in her life. I was so grateful for Heavenly
Father guiding us to her and helping her through ALLLL of her
challenges. We went home and finally went to sleep (best night's sleep
of my mission I think) but when we woke up we saw that we had 2 missed
calls from Angie and 4 messages... our hearts sank. We tried calling
her and texting her and so finally on our way to church we stopped off
at her house only to find that she had been drugged by her mom's boy
friend and assaulted. Yesterday was one of the hardest day's of my
life. We called the bishop and he sent some members to come and get
Angie and take her to their house. The police were called and they came
and took care of her. She didn't get confirmed, and right now we don't
even know where she is. Half a baptism is so painful, it makes break-ups
look like paper cuts on the grand scale of pain. I don't know if we
will ever get Angie confirmed. Her life is SO extreme and she is so
unpredictable. Honestly I become a hott mess whenever we have to take
care of these situations. That being said, I truly do love her and I
hope with all of my heart that one day she will get the gift of the holy
ghost and be able to make the changes in her life that will bring her
to our heavenly father.
But here is a happy story after that really sad one... So
when me and Sister Arnold were doing exchanges we had a goal of getting
their area 2 new investigators that day. We decided after our first
lesson of the day that we would walk to subway for lunch. As we were
walking along a man on a bike passed us and we cheerfully said "hello!"
and he kept biking past but yelled back "who are you and what are you
doing" I responded with the first thing that came to my mind "what are
you?" (ya i know that was a really good response right?) any way he came
back and he told us that he NEEDS god in his life and he would love to
turn around his life. He gave us his phone number, address, and set up
an appointment. IT WAS AMAZING! We knew that we had been lead to walk to
subway for lunch instead of going back to the flat to eat. Later that
day we were walking around after a follow up with a former and we saw
this girl and said hi, immediately I was like we should talk to her. So
me and Sister Arnold road our bikes slowly past her and we had no idea
what to say to her so we asked her if she knew where heardsman parade
was... she said that she wasn't from around there so she didn't know the
streets very well. We asked her where she was from and she told us
utah... OK SERIOUSLY UTAH?!?! what are the chances?! She goes to Roland
Hall (the caltholic school in SLC) and she's 13. We asked her if she
would like to meet with the missionaries when she gets back to America
and she said that none of her mormon friends had ever asked her but she
would love to! She gave us her information and we are going to reffer
her to the missionaries in SLC. how cool right?!
